Tintin’s relation to cinema

David Bordwell writes an excel­lent arti­cle on Tintin, and the comic’s rela­tion to moviemaking:

He’s the world’s most famous fic­tional Belgian, miles ahead of Hercule Poirot. But I ignored him for about sixty years. Tintin wasn’t part of my child­hood, and I didn’t get inter­ested in his adven­tures until recently. Now, though, the scales have fallen from my eyes and I real­ize that Hergé is a great comics artist. And nat­u­rally I see him doing some things that shed light on cinema.
